“Fantastic Family Weekend
“My husband and I were able to book a last minute RV camping site here this past weekend. We have a 31-foot camp trailer and wanted to meet friends coming from the Denver area for a quick weekend catch up.

The rates were incredibly reasonable (especially for the Glenwood/Aspen area) and the park was clean and very easy to check into. Our spot offered full hookups/picnic table/and ample space between campsites.

We walked down to the on-site restaurant/bar to catch the 4th quarter of the Broncos game on Sunday and even though the bar area was closed we were met by staff onsite who allowed us to sit and watch the football game and even offered to show the night game if we wanted to watch.

Incredible customer service that we appreciated very much! The park is clean, super close to Glenwood and many activities in the area and was quiet and peaceful for our entire stay. We plan an annual camping trip with friends from the front range and the fact that this park offers RV sites AND cabins makes it the perfect choice for our next gathering.

We will absolutely be back. Spacious RV sites, reasonable rates, and wonderful on-site staff. THANK YOU!” – Abbey Moulaison, TripAdvisor

What Do Other RVers Have to Say About Dolores River Campground?

Great campground!
We just stayed here for almost a month and were more than pleased with everything about the facilities. The campsites were well spaced and shady. There were lovely walking areas near the ponds and the Dolores River.

The restrooms/showers were nicer than any place we have stayed–in fact, they were the subject of discussion by almost everyone we met coming in and out of them–LOL. They have a nice laundry room on site with 6 washers and 6 dryers which was very convenient.

We were gone on a side trip for about a week and the hosts kept an eye on our camper which we appreciated very much.
If we are in this area again, we will definitely stay here!”
– Jmonwood, TripAdvisor

When can we go back?????
“This was the second year in a row we had the privilege of staying at Dolores River Campground. The owners, Lainey and Billy, go and above and beyond for their guest. The campsites are level, spacious and well maintained.

There aren’t enough positive things one can say about the conditions of the bathroom/showers. There wasn’t a time day or night we went in that they weren’t neat and clean. Same goes for the laundry room. Top notch campground. Make your reservation today. You won’t regret it!” – Voyager217511, TripAdvisor

Great Campground With Great Cabins
“A great campground with a touch of extra “luxury”: carpeted cabin floors; very clean, maintained restrooms; nice campers; great staff; etc. Another treat is that the views from your front porch are gorgeous and really do feel like camping.

If you’re lucky, you may get to see one of the visiting moose or bears. Grand Lake is a delightful alternative to the more crowded east side of Rocky Mtn Natl Park (including Estes Park), though with fewer scenic destinations. Recommended, especially if you are already familiar with the east side.” – Bill C, TripAdvisor

Very nice RV park
Efficient and welcoming check-in. The site had water and electric hookup. There was availability for sewer dump near the office. Some sites in the park do have sewer hookups. Satellite reception was good.

Park WiFi accessible only near the office. Gravel site had adequate space between sites with grass and picnic table. We had a bit of leveling problems with one rear wheel. Bath/shower facilities were very nice and clean with 5 toilet stalls, 5 sinks and 5 separate showers for men as well as women.

There is a nice, clean laundry room with multiple washers and dryers. The building that houses the showers/restrooms, as well as laundry, is accessible only with keypad entry provided to guest at check-in.

There is a very nice playground for children. This RV park is conveniently located only about 5 minutes from the south entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and 5 minutes from the town of Grand Lake, which has multiple restaurants, souvenir shops, grocery stores, and gas station.” – Patricia S., TripAdvisor

What Do Other RVers Have to Say About Estes Park KOA

Clean and Friendly!
“We stayed here for several days in September and had a wonderful time. The staff went out of their way to be accommodating! They were super friendly and fun to chat with. We were delighted with a visit by elk neighbors right in the park every day.

We used the laundry facility and it was first rate. We stayed in our camper but I watched the staff clean cabins one morning and they were working really hard scrubbing and washing windows, etc. I wouldn’t hesitate a moment to stay in them!” – Sherri G., TripAdvisor

Exceptional customer service, tight space for large RV’s
“Visited during “off” season, not many parks in area open. KOA accommodated us and our monster 39′ fifth wheel and assisted in getting us into a spot and provided boards to “shim” our rig as the sight was a tight fit and off level.

We very much appreciated the customer service and fitting us in, but would not recommend this location for RVs over 35′. Our site had a concrete pad patio area and wrought iron table and chairs, nice for eating outdoors.

The laundry facilities were clean and all machines working. Staff was helpful in recommendations for local activities. Elk meandered through the park first night we were there.” – Teensie17, TripAdvisor

What Do Other RVers Have to Say About Arrowhead Point Campground?

Second visit to this RV campground “I was there in late September, and this was a return trip for me, as I was there last year. I did not have a reservation, but you probably should have one in most cases.

Check-in was friendly, quick and organized. The grounds are perfectly clean. The sites are medium sized but not cramped at all. I built a nice fire in the fire ring in the evening and sat outside.

As the ring is right out front I was able to chat with people as they strolled by. I saw lots of children playing, dogs being walked. It was quiet and peaceful. The view out over the Arkansas River Valley as great.

I have seen some people complain about phone coverage. It is poor, but the entire area is weak, as you are right in the center of the Rocky Mountains. Be reasonable.
I would like to see improved wifi, I hope they do that at some point.”

Good park, great people
“We live in Centennial, Colorado, and love Buena Vista. We make a trip here every year to enjoy the Collegiate Peaks and fishing opportunities. Buena Vista is a quaint mountain town without a ton of amenities.

This park has several types of sites. Tent, RV (full hook-ups, water/electric, electric only), cabins, and yurts. We usually stay in the full hook-up area. We have a pop-up camper. When you arrive, a gentleman (who has worked here as long as we have been visiting) takes you to your spot in his golf cart.

He guides you into your spot. If you believe you are unable to do it yourself, he will jump in your vehicle and do it for you (we saw him do it for the man in the spot next to us). He’ll also carry your firewood up for you.

The sites are your usual . . . a fire pit, and a picnic table. Each spot is mostly level and is gravel. Most spots have little shade. If you stay in the spots in the middle of the park, there is grass and a few trees. These spots are electric/water only.

They have a playground and horseshoes. They have a small shop with knick-knacks and camping supplies, ice, and firewood. Firewood is $6 each, or $15 for three. 10 lbs of ice are (I think) about $3.

The one complaint I have is the lack of enough showers. They have about 65 sites total, and there are three unisex showers, and a bathhouse with two showers each for men and women. Because of the use that the showers get, sometimes you wait for a shower.

And when you DO get to the shower, it has been used a lot, and there is water everywhere, hair on the floor . . . you get the picture. Showers are inexpensive, however. 50 cents for 3 minutes, and up from there.

We stay here because we do like the park, we love the area, and compared to the other parks in the area, it is the best choice. (There is a KOA on the way into town, but we have never stayed there. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere.)” – Greta M., TripAdvisor

3rd time’s the charm!

If you read our review from 2016 titled “2nd visit not as good as the first”, and have visited this place recently, you might wonder what we were talking about. Well, a lot can change in two years! We just gave this place another try, and surprisingly, every issue we mentioned in that previous review seems to have been addressed. Here is a rundown:

Manager- the less-than-professional front desk manager in 2016 has been replaced with Melissa, who is very professional, competent, and has a great attitude for the job.
Pool- the freezing 2016 pool was now a very comfortable 85 degrees.

Our small kids had no problem with the temp. The hot tub was missing but the new one was on the way I was told. We somehow forgot to show the kids the new water slide; we will next time.

Permanent Residents – the junk-filled permanent resident sites noticed in 2016 were completely cleaned out this time. I was told by the owner, Mike, that they eventually decided to kick these residents out.

Alcohol Use – the over-consumption noticed in 2016 in the public area by the front office was not present this time. It could just be us, but both my wife and I also think the liquor section of the camp store is smaller than in 2016.

Playground – the disheveled young kids playing unattended at the playground for hours on end in 2016 were not there this time. We suspect that went away with the permanent residents that were asked to leave, but this is just speculation.

The owner, Mike, said the changed nature of the place is ultimately because of Melissa and her husband, who took over management sometime between 2016 and now. Great job Melissa and husband, and kudos to Mike and his wife Rhonda for making the smart decision to put you in charge! We will now plan on making this an annual outing.

BTW – No issues with utilities; electric, water, and sewer worked great for the duration of Memorial Day weekend, and it was a mostly full campground. Wifey did have trouble with the WIFI log-on, but we just roamed for what we needed, not a big deal for us.

Lastly, we must mention the awesomely HUGE jumping pillow. I roughly estimated the dimensions this time; something like 50-foot x 25-foot (ish). You must see it to believe it. Jumping pillows of this size are rare and ridiculously expensive.

You must visit at least once to let the kids (and yourself) jump on this thing. It’s the sole reason we gave this place another chance after the 2016 trip.”

– Clint K., TripAdvisor

What a pleasant surprise!
“We booked an overnight after a morning at the Gorge on our way to Telluride, and we assumed the cabins would likely an afterthought to the RV Park, but ours was awesome!

Bedroom, kitchen, hot tub, loft, and even a fenced area behind the cabin with a mountain view and a place of our dog. All of it clean and well-kept and friendly. We were just there for a day, so there wasn’t much time for the pool or rec area, but we will be back for more!”

November Camping
“Thank you, Garden of the Gods RV Campground!!! This was our first time staying here. We came in on a Tuesday, leaving on Monday (November 6 – 12). The campground was very clean!! Great people running the camp.

We even had a movie night with campfires! They are always on the move, checking, and asking those out and about if there is anything you need or want! The campground is centrally located to many attractions! We can’t wait to return!!” – moenck1, TripAdvisor

Everything as advertised. A bit crowded
“There is no parking for RV’s when you arrive. You just have to angle in and go to the office. Our site was located with 50 yards of a busy street with construction. We asked for something further away and got a back-in site in the back of the park.

Okay. No refund on the difference in space rent. Nice people working here. Everyone quick to help. Driven to our site by a pleasant young gentleman. All hookups in operating order. Much of this park is utilized by full time residents. No issues, but I enjoy camping among campers.

The community areas, pool, laundry, restrooms, were all spotless. Sparkling clean. The community room is downright luxurious. Lots of comfortable places to enjoy fellow campers. All in all, a fine campground, but a bit pricey, a little crowded, and too close to a busy thoroughfare.” – bigbadbuyer, TripAdvisor

What Do Other RVers Have to Say About Colorado Springs KOA?

“Spent two weeks and we had a blast – and we never left the park. The park is CLEAN; staff is friendly and more than accommodating; amenities abound from campsite trash pickup to firewood or ice deliveries; fellow campers honored the quiet hours, and the Splash pad with all its water slides is the biggest hit with everyone.

Sat, you HAVE to participate in the Wet Wagon Ride! Everyone from campers to extra staff get involved in the shenanigans and fun. There are extra activities every Fri and Sat to participate in and each weekend is different. Holly and Steve are so high energy and the activities they are involved in are that much more fun.

Ave is hard at work upgrading some of the campsites with new patios, adding fenced dog areas at some sites, and adding a covered tent spot while we were there. It’s right at an I-25 exit, making it very convenient. Is there some interstate noise, yes.

But it’s minimal, and the only time we really noticed it was during the week between 5:30 and 7:00 when everyone was headed to work into Co Springs or Ft. Carson which is right at the same exit. This is definitely a destination campground!” – PaMike, Trip Advisor

A small meadow separates the two loops, with a path down the middle to the beautiful river area you see in the pictures (a 3-ish min walk from your site). We stayed in the lower loop on the “inside” part of the loop.

The outside spots are closer to the river, but you have to scramble down the side of the mini cliff to get to the water, walking through the meadow lets you access the river at “ground level”, so to speak.” – Steph A, TheDyrt

San Luis State Wildlife Area is one of the best campgrounds in Colorado. It sits in front of Great Sand Dunes National Park.

What You’ll Love About San Luis State Wildlife Area

This is one of the cleanest campsites around and it’s clear that the area is very well maintained and taken care of. The views are excellent and, as for the aforementioned three ecospheres, you have desert, swamp, and lake all contained within roughly 2,000 acres of real estate.

With that being said, you’re free to pick your adventure, with fishing, dune riding, kayaking, and sightseeing all on the menu. You have a stunning view of the Rockies and the sunset is like watching melting gold on a horizon of reds, oranges, and hazy blue. It’s hard to ask for better.

What Do Other RVers Have to Say About San Luis State Wildlife Area

We are about a 13-14 minute drive from Great Sand Dunes National Park and another few minutes to the Zapata Waterfall. Both were incredible!!! For $10, we really couldn’t beat this place. -Camper 832491 Campendium

We camped here the first time we visited Great Sand Dunes National Park. The campsites were cheap, the campground was practically empty, and the lake itself was beautiful. -otmgoodale TripAdvisor
