First let’s describe that there are three different types of RV’s to rent, which include motorhomes, travel trailers (including fifth wheels), and truck campers. Travel Trailers and Pop-ups are towed behind a truck or SUV and thus do not require any sort of special license or training. Class A motorhome and Class C motorhome options are also available to rent.

Driving the vast majority of motorhomes requires no special license either, and is easier than many newcomers think. You must be at least 25 years of age with a valid driver’s license however to rent most RVs. Some states do, however, require a special license for large motorhomes over a certain GVW (gross vehicle weight). 

Be sure to ask the RV owner you will be renting from if a special license is required. Typically though, you do not need a special license to drive an RV.

Minneapolis is one of the twin cities of Minnesota along with St. Paul. Together they combine to form the largest city in the state. Although Minnesota is known for being a beautiful place to visit in the winter, it also has plenty of things that makes it beautiful in the summer.

Not only does it have scenic natural attractions, it also has interesting museums, delicious restaurants, and other interesting attractions in the city. So, while many people do not think to come here when it is hot outside, it is certainly worth a visit. Here are some of the best things to do when you get to Minneapolis, Minnesota.

1. Go to Minnehaha Regional Park

If before you check out the city you want to see a more natural attraction, you should consider heading to Minnehaha Regional Park. It is southeast of the city and extends along the banks of the Mississippi River. One of the best parts of the park is the Minnehaha Falls. These waterfalls stand 53 feet high and are the number one attraction of the park.

Additionally, the park is one of the oldest and most popular in the city. It receives more than 800,000 visitors per year and has plenty of things for all its visitors to see and do.

2. Check Out the Minneapolis Institute of Art

The Minneapolis Institute of Art is a museum with a large collection of works from many different countries in many different styles. Notably, it has works from European masters like Rubens and Rembrandt. The museum’s collection has pieces that cover a wide variety of cultures dating back to more than 5000 years ago.

While you are touring around the institute you will find many different pieces of art. Sculptures, photographs, paintings, drawing, textiles, and prints are all on display in the museum. Additionally, admission is free and so are the public tours. So, there is no reason not to come check out this institute of art.

3. Go See the Weisman Art Museum

If you are a fan of art and architecture, you should definitely check out the Weisman Art Museum. The museum’s collection primarily has works that focus on American Modernism, traditional Korean furniture, and ancient Mimbres pottery from the American Southwest. However, the most interesting part about the museum is its architecture.

The museum was designed by Frank Gehry to be eye catching, and it certainly is. It is a four story, stainless steel structure with a hard to define shape. As a result, it has become one of the most recognizable museums in the United States.

4. Head Over to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden will take you out of the urban center of the city and into a more natural setting. Lebanon Hills Regional Park is the largest park in the Dakota County park system. It has 2000 acres of land and miles of trails for you to explore. Not only that but it has several outdoor sports facilities, and other facilities that offer environmental education.

The visitor center is in the eastern section of the park. There you can find information, interactive nature displays, courses and programs, and equipment rental.

3. Lake Elmo County Park Reserve

Lake Elmo County Park Reserve covers 2165 acres of land with 80 percent of its acreage set aside for preservation and protection. The goal is for this portion of land to eventually resemble the land that it was on prior to the arrival of settlers in the mid 1800s.
