Does Costco Sell RV Tires?

Yes, Costco does sell RV tires for many different RVs, and it’s likely at a discount from what you’ll find elsewhere.

Like other services Costco offers, you get a good bang for your buck. Whether you are purchasing what you need through their online or physical warehouse the prices are great.

How they operate their business (no advertisement, buying in bulk, simple store design, etc.) creates cost cuts for them and their customers.

Does Costco Sell RV Tires For My Class Of RV?

Costco sells RV tires for the bumper pull class of RVs, such as towable campers and travel trailers. They do not sell or install tires for motorhomes at this time.

You can find the type of trailer tire you need for your RV by checking your owner’s manual or looking at the size code on the side of your current tires.

After you’ve located what type you need, visit Costco’s website to find out if they carry the type you’re looking for, or give your local warehouse a call and ask for the tire center.

What RV Tire Brands Are Sold At Costco?

Costco sells many of the major brands of tires, including Michelin, Goodyear, and Bridgestone. For RV-specific tires, they sell TowMaster by GreenBall.

These tires are made specifically for trailers with reinforced, thicker sidewalls to support heavy towing. There are many RV’s out there running Costco tires so finding feedback from fellow RVer’s shouldn’t be a problem.

Will Costco Install My RV Tires?

Yes, Costco will install your RV tires at any Costco location with a garage offering RV tire-changing services. The best way to find out if your local Costco provides this service is to call or stop by and ask someone in the tire service department.

It’s always good to have the information they will need, such as the tire type and size of your rig. This will ensure they can give you the most accurate answer with no mix-ups.

Can I Change My RV Tires At Costco Without A Membership?

In order to change your RV tires at Costco, you will need to have a Costco membership. Costco makes it very simple to obtain a membership. Most of the time, it can be done in less than ten minutes when you arrive at your closest Costco warehouse.

You can get a few different types of memberships, but all of them will give you access to their tires, installation, and discounts. And don’t forget all the great discounts on food, electronics and everything else Costco carries!

3 Benefits Of Buying RV Tires At Costco?

Buying RV tires at Costco comes with many benefits, including;

1. A Great Warranty

Costco’s tires are covered under their Road Hazard Warranty. Any performance, light truck, or passenger tires purchased at Costco are covered under their Road Hazard Warranty.

This is a 5-year warranty that covers tread wear damage and tire failure. There are conditions such as being the original purchaser and adhering to the manufacturer’s care guidelines.

2. Their Installation Package

Costcos installation package includes rotation, balancing, flat repairs, and inflation checks for the life of the tires. It also consists of the warranty mentioned above and a manufacturer’s defects warranty.

And, when you’re coming in for routine tire care, they do free nitrogen fill-ups as well as replace your valve stems.

3. Discounted Rate

Costco’s discounted rate makes it hard to buy tires from anywhere else. Their warehouse and bulk item pricing, combined with the perks above, make it difficult to find better deals elsewhere.

Are RV Tires Different From Car Tires?

Yes, RV tires are different from car tires in a couple of different ways, and for several different reasons. RV tires are made specifically to bear heavier loads than car tires and are more rigid.

To do this, manufacturers make trailer tires with much thicker side walls and more reinforcement to account for the heavier load of the RV. This helps the trailer stay moving forward more smoothly and even reduces some of the swaying.

Another way they differ is the tread. The tread on trailer tires is more of a long, less complicated pattern. They tend to be straighter, smoother grooves since the trailer itself isn’t needing as much traction as the vehicle pulling it.

4 FAQs On Costco Selling RV Tires

1. What Is The Best Day To Get Tires At Costco?

The best day to get tires at Costco is the day before you actually need them. I had to throw that in there since I’ve had first-hand experience a couple of times needing tires on the side of the interstate. And I highly do not recommend it!

On a serious note, grabbing your tires from Costco is generally best to do on a weekday morning or afternoon. The crowd is normally dulled down with most people at work.

2. When You Buy Tires At Costco, Do They Do An Alignment?

When you buy tires at Costco, they will not do an alignment. This likely has to do with the machines it takes to do an alignment, the technicians needed, and the cost associated with both of those things.

However, they offer balancing and rotation services, as well as their everyday tire care, such as nitrogen fill-ups and valve stem replacement.

3. How Often Should You Rotate Tires On An RV?

How often you should rotate your tires on your RV can vary by make and manufacturer. A good rule of thumb is to have them rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles.

That can seem like a lot or hardly at all depending on how much you travel. A good standard to go by is to check your RV tires before you take off. Whenever you stop do a quick check to see if they’re wearing unevenly, or have any type of deformity.

Making sure your tires are in good shape and rotated when they should be could make all the difference in a smooth road trip or a very long, roadside waiting game.

4. What Type of Tires Do Motorhomes Use?

While Costco does not carry the type of tires needed for a motorhome, if you do own one, it is important to be knowledgeable about what type you need.

You can find this information in your motorhome owner’s manual, or by looking at the size on the side of your current tires.

Outside of being aware of the type of tires your rig requires, it is also great to know other maintenance information. RV Life’s Maintenance App is a great way to keep track of all this information. Having to flip through the owner’s manual every time or try to store it in your brain usually doesn’t work.

This information is vital to know to keep your motorhome running at peak performance. The RV Life maintenance app makes that simple beyond belief to do.

Final Thoughts On Does Costco Sell RV Tires

If you have a travel trailer, Costco is a good, safe, cheaper bet to replace your RV tires. Just like with everything Costco does, they’ve really knocked it out of the park on providing quality products and top-tier brands for their members.

Time and time again they prove that being a member costs a price upfront, but saves you much more than the membership cost in the long run. Being proactive and keeping track of the maintenance as well as having a solid roadside assistance membership is essential to avoid unnecessary headaches.

RVs are a lot of work, but once you get the maintenance on a schedule and find places like Costco to keep you up and running, and within a budget, your travels become adventures again.
