How Much Does it Cost to Rent an RV in Denver?

If you do not own and do not plan on buying an RV, you will need to start to look for rentals. Once you start your search you will quickly realize that there are many options available, but there is a wide range of prices. Rental prices vary significantly based on a variety of factors.

Firstly, the size of the RV will significantly impact its price. Typically, larger RVs are more expensive because they provide more storage space, and they allow you to bring more people with you on your trips. However, that is not the only thing that will affect the price.

Whether an RV is driveable or towable will have a significant effect. Driveable RVs are usually more expensive than towable options. That is because driveable RVs are more accessible and larger than towable options.

Towable RVs require that you have a tow vehicle that is large enough to pull an extremely heavy trailer. Not everyone has a tow vehicle, so they are forced to rent driveable RVs. Age will also be a factor as older RVs are cheaper than newer options.

Finally, the season in which you are renting will play the biggest role in determining the price. Generally, RVs are more expensive in the spring in summer than they are in the winter. That is because there are more people interested in renting during the summer, so there is a higher demand for rental RVs.

Conversely, not many people like to travel in the winter, so there are not many people renting RVs. As a result, renters lower their prices to encourage someone to rent their RV.

RV TypeDaily Rental Price
Class A$241
Class B$198
Class C$236
Travel Trailer$112
5th Wheel$130
Pop Up Camper$101
Truck Camper$152
Toy Hauler$163

Is It Safe to Rent an RV?

When you rent from Outdoorsy or other peer-to-peer RV rental companies, you’ll see that there is a service or preparation fee. RV owners must follow high standards to participate in Outdoorsy’s rental program, including keeping their coaches COVID-19 safe. To clean your rental correctly takes a lot of time, money, and effort. Many use professional cleaning services to ensure the best outcome.

What Do I Need to Pack When I Rent an RV?

Besides your personal things, you’ll know what to pack once you’ve concluded the rental agreement. Many RV owners offer additional features with the rental. They could provide outdoor furniture, kitchenware, bedroom linen, a portable generator, a gas allowance, and many other additional options for a small fee.

Don’t be surprised if you see owners offer a rentable car to tow behind a motorhome. The passenger vehicle can be flat towed, so you don’t need to worry about using a dolly or car carrier trailer. If your plans include checking out the scene, you won’t have to worry about maneuvering the motorcoach through narrow town streets.

Do I need a Special Driver’s License to Rent an RV in Denver?

Generally, the only time you need a special driver’s license, like a CDL, to rent an RV is if your RV is over 45 feet, over 26,000 pounds, and you’re driving it for commercial purposes. Since you’re using it for your private purposes (even as a rental), you don’t need to worry. If you have any concerns, you can go to each state’s Department of Motor Vehicle website you’re going to be traveling in to learn more.

How Do I Rent an RV?

If you know when you’re planning to take your trip but aren’t sure what’s the best RV category for you, first go to the RV Rentals category on RVBlogger where you will find tons of articles about RV rentals. Once you know your RV type, look through the hundreds of RVs in your area on the Outdoorsy website. You’ll find pictures, information on the owners, pricing, features, and much more on each listing.

Once you’ve chosen your top three, go ahead and put in your request. It’s always a good idea to request more than one, just in case someone else jumped on a great deal ahead of you. During the rental process, you and the owner will communicate through the rental website about pickup, additional features, and other details.

Will I Need a Security Deposit to Rent an RV in Denver, CO?

If something happens during the rental where the RV needs repairs, the security deposit will pay for it. RV rental rules dictate that the rental company keeps possession of the deposit on a temporary hold basis. When the renter returns the RV in the same condition it went out; the owner signals the company to release the entire security deposit back to the renter.

If something does go wrong, it’s always a good idea to be upfront with the owner. In many instances, the owner will work with the renter to reach a mutual agreement that benefits everyone.

Are There One Way RV Rentals?

There are some RV one-way rentals available. It boils down to if the RV owner allows it or not. If you’re planning on relocating and want to make it an experience for you and your family, using an RV can be a great way to make the transition a good one. Be diligent with your search and open to the various RV categories so you’ll have the best chance to find that one-way rental.

Can I Have an RV Rental Delivered to My Campsite and Set Up?

If you want to camp in your local area or choose an RV at your destination, it’s possible to have the owner have the coach ready and waiting for you. Many offer delivery, set up, and break down as an additional feature.

Those who don’t have the right tow vehicle or are using rental cars can skip the logistics of getting the RV to the campground.  After a long drive of flight, after you check-in at the campground’s front desk, all you have to do is walk in, drop your things, and relax. Unless you have young children with pent-up energy…Luckily most campgrounds have play areas.

Are Pets Allowed in RV Rentals?

Over 60% of all RVers are pet owners. In the great debate between cat and dog lovers, in the RV World, 90% have dogs. Rentals aren’t the best RVs for pets. A significant portion of renters will allow pets for an additional fee. If you see the icon that says pet-friendly, don’t automatically assume you’re all set.

If Major and Champ Biden were coming on a trip with President Joe and Jill, some of those pet-friendly rentals wouldn’t be so accommodating (well, maybe to POTUS, but not everyone else). Owners may put the size, breed, and number of pets allowed in the coach.

Mike Scarpignato – Bio

Mike Scarpignato created RVBlogger.com over five years ago in 2018 to share all we have learned about RV camping.

Mike is an avid outdoorsman with decades of experience tent camping and traveling in his 2008 Gulf Stream Conquest Class C RV and 2021 Thor Challenger Class A motorhome.

We attend RV Shows and visit RV dealerships all across the country to tour and review drivable motorhomes and towable trailers to provide the best evaluations of these RVs in our blog articles and YouTube videos.

We are 3/4-time RVers who created RVBlogger.com to provide helpful information about all kinds of RVs and related products, gear, camping memberships, tips, hacks and advice.
