Answering Your Most Pressing Questions to Help You Find the Best RV Windshield Covers on the Market

We know trying to find the best RV windshield covers on the market can be difficult. To help you with this, we’ve compiled several questions that we think you should have answered before you make a purchase. With the information we provide below you’ll be able to make a more informed decision when purchasing your windshield cover.

Why You Need a Windshield Cover For Your RV

The benefits of an RV windshield cover are self-evident. They give you privacy when you’re relaxing, and they provide you with UV protection on hot and sunny days. Additionally, they protect from damage that can be caused by bad weather. As a result, the lifespan of your RV will be increased.

1. Windshield Covers Provide Sun Protection

Ultraviolet rays from the sun are one of the biggest causes of damage for RV owners. Plastic components of your RV such as shower panels, toilets, fridge handles, and vents are negatively affected when exposed to direct sunlight. This can be an issue whether you’re using your RV, or you have it in storage.

As a result, you need a way to keep your RV protected so that it doesn’t get damaged soon after you buy it. By using one of the best RV windshield covers, you’ll protect the interior of your RV from sun damage.

Additionally, the cover will protect your RV from any damage that may come from the heat. The cover reflects the rays from the sun and keeps the interior of the RV much cooler. Have you ever sat in the cab of your RV on a hot summer day?

Although many RVs come with interior sun shades, the bright summer sun on the windshield creates a ton of heat. So not only is the sun damaging your RV cab interior and dashboard, it makes it a lot harder for your RV air conditioner to cool your RV down.

RV windshield covers are essential in the summertime to help keep your RV cool and prevent UV damage to your RV interior.

2. They Prevent Moisture Damage

Many people opt to use tarps to cover their RVs when they’re in storage or when they’re off on a trip. This is a mistake and can cause a great deal of damage to your RV. The main problem with using tarps is that they trap water underneath. This will cause your vehicle to rust which will decrease the lifespan while increasing your maintenance costs.

Instead of using a tarp, you should use a proper RV windshield cover and RV cover to protect your RV. When it’s all said and done, they don’t cost that much more than giant tarps. But they provide a lot more protection! A tarp as a cover can damage your RV, but a proper RV cover or windshield cover will actually protect it.

3. RV Windshield Covers offer Privacy

After a long day of setting up your camp and telling stories with friends, you’ll want to get some time to yourself and relax in your RV. Having that time to relax and decompress is important after a long and busy day. The last thing you’d want is for someone to look into your vehicle while you’re trying to get some time to yourself.

Although many motorhomes come with interior windshield blinds, people walking by can still see inside along the edges.

By purchasing one of the best RV windshield covers on the market, you won’t need to deal with any of that. All you need to do is make sure the cover is on and your shades are drawn, and you’ll have all the privacy you need.

What To Consider When Shopping for RV Windshield Covers

No matter the reason you have for purchasing an RV windshield cover, there are several factors you need to consider before making a purchase. There are a plethora of options for you to choose from, so keeping these factors in mind will help you narrow the pool of options.

1. Your RV Type and Model

The first thing you need to remember when purchasing an RV windshield cover is that they won’t all be compatible with your RV. As a result, before you make a purchase, you need to make sure that the windshield cover you’re purchasing is compatible with your RV.

2. How It Attaches To Your RV – Buttons, Magnets, Suction Cups, Etc

Furthermore, many of the available windshield covers have magnetic attachments, suction cups, or other installment mechanisms that aren’t particularly complicated. Although it isn’t overly common for a windshield cover to get stolen, it doesn’t hurt to purchase one with a little bit of theft protection. After all, it’s better to be safe than sorry and purchase a windshield cover with straps that attach to the inside of your RV.

3. Material Matters

One of the most important factors for you to consider is the material that your windshield cover is made of. You’ll want a cover that is made with durable material. It should be waterproof and protect against all kinds of possible damage. Depending on what you need, there are several options for you to choose from.

Generally, vinyl is the best option when it comes to the material. It provides 100 percent protection from sun damage. Unfortunately, because vinyl is the best option, it’s also the most expensive.

If the price is a factor for you, you might be better off with vinyl coated with polyester. You can also get covers made from Protex and Suntex. Covers made from these materials will provide a lot of protection for your vehicle, but they aren’t quite as reliable as the vinyl options.

  1. I’m using ADCO 2407 White Class C Ford Windshield Cover and I saw that it really good. It blocks the sun and both blocks light and provides some insulation at night. A great improvement over the interior windshield curtain provided by Winnebago. It fits around my large mirror bases perfectly.
