Why Small Class C Motorhomes Under 25’ Are So Popular

If you want the confidence of a motorhome without the stress of a big rig, a small Class C under 25 feet hits a sweet spot. You can fit into more campsites, maneuver through small towns, and still get real beds, real bathrooms, and respectable storage.

In this article, we walk through three of our favorite floor plans from our latest video—what they get right, where they come up short, and who we think each one is best for.

How We Tested and What We Measured

In our video walkthroughs, we don’t just pan and go—we measure headroom, bunk dimensions, dinette conversions, and shower sizes. I’m 5’11” and I actually stand in the showers.

We also check tank sizes, cargo carrying capacity (CCC), tow ratings, pantry usability, and the all-important storage access on the campsite side. We note the chassis too, because Chevy vs. Ford E-350 vs. E-450 genuinely changes your payload and how it drives.

Our Reviews of the 3 Best Class C RVs Under 25 Feet!

1. Gulf Stream Conquest 6237LE (24’0″)

Gulf Stream Conquest 6237LE exterior with white paint and over cab bunk. Beautiful background with pink clouds.

This is the quintessential small Class C floor plan: cab-over bunk, booth dinette, inline galley, corner bed, and rear bath. Ours sat on a Chevy chassis—nice legroom and easy parts availability nationwide.

  • Key Specs: GVWR 12,500 lbs • CCC ~4,251 lbs • Tow 7,500 lbs • 24’0” long • Sleeps up to 5 • Tanks: 31 gray / 31 black / 31 fresh
  • Cab-Over: ~8′ wide across the RV; ~47″ deep; ~28–29″ of vertical clearance so it doesn’t feel claustrophobic
  • Dinette Bed: ~65″ x ~42″ with storage under both benches
  • Kitchen: Inline layout with a front-to-back 2-burner cooktop that leaves usable counter space for a coffeemaker or toaster; deep square sink with high-arc faucet
  • Bedroom: Classic rear corner bed with overhead cabinets; 120V and USB handy
  • Bathroom: ~23″ x ~32″ shower, 6’8″ interior height with skylight; room to move without feeling boxed in
  • Exterior Storage: Large curbside bay under the bed; rear outside shower port cleverly placed on the back so you don’t soak your campsite
  • What We Liked: Big CCC for the size, generous tow rating, practical storage, useful counter layout
  • Trade-Offs: Corner bed is harder to make, shower uses a curtain (we’d upgrade to a retractable door)

Best for: Couples or small families who want the classic layout, strong towing, and simple systems without slides.

2. Entegra Odyssey SE 22TF (24’9″)

Entegra Odyssey SE 22TF Class C RV Under 25 feet long in white with a large over cab bunk

No slides but it still feels open thanks to ceiling height and a smart mid-bath design. Built on the Ford E-350.

  • Key Specs: GVWR 12,500 lbs • GCWR 18,500 lbs • CCC ~3,997 lbs • Tow 5,000 lbs • 24’9” long • Sleeps up to 4 • Tanks: 43 fresh / 40 gray / 32 black
  • Cab-Over: ~97″ wide by ~54″ deep; ~34″ headroom at the front— airy and adult-friendly
  • Dinette: Two-person friendly with power nearby; TV positioned to serve both dinette and bunk
  • Kitchen: Inline with a convection microwave, 2-burner cooktop, deep round sink, window over the galley, 12V compressor fridge that cools fast and adds capacity
  • Bedroom: Convertible twin-beds-to-mega-bed flexibility, dual wardrobes and drawers; good cross-breeze with opposite windows
  • Bathroom: Mid-bath with ~22″ x ~36″ shower; ~7′ interior height throughout makes it feel bigger than the footprint
  • Exterior Storage: Multiple access points to a large rear compartment with motion-sensor lights
  • What We Liked: “Feels bigger than it is,” flexible sleeping, big pass-through, 12V fridge, tall interior height
  • Trade-Offs: Smaller dinette, less counter depth, tow rating lower than the Chevy Gulf Stream

Best for: Travelers who don’t want a slide but still want a roomy feel, tall interior height, and a flexible twin/king bedroom setup.

3. Winnebago Spirit 22M (24’5″)

Winnebago Spirit 22M Class C RV Under 25 feet tan with over cab bunk shot by RVBlogger

Short length, big capability. The E-450 Super Duty chassis is the story here—payload and towing jump, and the bedroom slide opens the rear suite.

  • Key Specs: GVWR 14,500 lbs • GCWR 22,000 lbs • CCC ~4,6xx lbs • Tow 7,500 lbs • 24’5” long • Sleeps up to 5 • Tanks: 40 fresh / 45 gray / 40 black
  • Cab-Over: Full 8′ width and ~59″ depth; TV on a swing arm; roof vent/skylight for airflow
  • Dinette: U-shaped with three belted positions and a car-seat tether; converts to ~72″ x ~44″ bed
  • Kitchen: Three-burner range plus oven, big single-bowl sink, minimal fixed counter (we’d add a flip-up extension), pantry opposite the fridge
  • Bedroom: Short queen (~60″ x 76″) in a slide with nightstand and charging on one side; overhead cabinets; access both sides of the bed
  • Bathroom: Retractable shower door from the factory, ~6’4″ in the skylight, usable vanity storage
  • Exterior Storage: Big driver-side bay under the bed slide; mind your head under the slide and consider a pool noodle on the trim
  • What We Liked: E-450 chassis capacity, bedroom slide openness, factory shower door, big pantry
  • Trade-Offs: Driver’s seat still a bit tight even with the dinette cutout; curbside storage is limited

Best for: Shoppers who want maximum cargo and towing in a sub-25′ coach and value a bedroom slide for nighttime comfort.

Gulf Stream vs. Entegra vs. Winnebago: Which One’s Right for You?

  • Need the strongest tow rating and a classic layout? Gulf Stream Conquest 6237LE on Chevy with 7,500 lbs tow and big CCC is tough to beat.
  • Want tall ceilings, no slides, and flexible beds? Entegra Odyssey SE 22TF feels bigger than its specs and the twin-to-mega-bed arrangement is fantastic.
  • Want big-truck underpinnings and a bedroom slide in a small footprint? Winnebago Spirit 22M on E-450 delivers serious capacity and a more open bedroom.

Owner Tips You Won’t See on a Spec Sheet

  • Add a flip-up counter extension by the galley to make breakfast workflows sane in the Entegra and Winnebago.
  • If your shower ships with a curtain, consider a retractable shower door—it’s a weekend DIY that keeps the curtain off your shoulders.
  • Use labeled bins in long overhead cabinets and pantries; add fridge rods so your yogurt doesn’t attack you at the first stop.
  • For cab-over sleepers, check for USB and 120V nearby. If there aren’t any, a hard-mounted multi-port off an existing circuit is a low-cost upgrade.
  • Weigh your coach once it’s loaded. CCC looks big on paper, but real-world weights with water, gear, and passengers tell the truth.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are small Class C RVs under 25 feet good for families?
Yes—look for a usable cab-over, a dinette that converts to a true kid bed, and at least ~40 gallons of gray or the ability to dump mid-trip.

2. Is the E-450 worth it on a short coach?
If you carry lots of gear or tow near 7,500 lbs, yes. You’ll feel the difference in payload margin and stability.

3. 12V fridge or propane/120V fridge?
12V cools faster and increases interior volume. Propane gives flexibility if you spend long stretches without shore power or limited solar.

4. Do I need a slide?
Slides widen living or bedroom areas but add weight and complexity. The Entegra shows you can feel roomy without one; the Winnebago shows what a single bedroom slide can do for sleep comfort.

Final Thoughts

All three of these small Class C motorhomes deliver big usability in a compact footprint.

The Gulf Stream wins on classic layout with stout towing. The Entegra proves you can skip slides and still feel open while gaining a super-flexible bedroom. The Winnebago leans into E-450 capability and a cozy bedroom slide without breaking the 25′ barrier.

If you can, sit in each driver’s seat, stand in each shower, and lie down on each bed—your body will tell you what the spec sheet can’t.
