Class A RVs with bunk beds can serve another purpose for those who aren’t traveling with a family. For those who need an RV with a workspace, we’ve mentioned how some of these models have lower bunks that are already designed to become full-length RV desks.
RV manufacturers have gone one step further by including two RV workspaces. Most have an RV desk space on the dashboard in front of the co-pilot seat. Some companies now make their dinette tables fully adjustable for standing desks or better spacing for work. This also includes homework for kids learning through road-schooling programs.

As the first of our Class A RVs with bunk beds list, the Newmar Dutch Star 4310 provides RVers with plenty of sleeping options, including the Hide-A-Bed sofa, bunk beds, queen bed, and Jack-Knife Sofa. While not everyone will prefer the queen bed, it really opens up the bedroom, and leaves room for a massive bathroom.
If you have kids along for the ride, you won’t have to worry about hitting up the local laundromat, or a campground laundry room. The master bath comes prepped for a stackable washer and dryer unit. This motorhome also features two, full bathrooms, so the kids can shower in their own, rather than using yours.
2. Tiffin Alegro RED 38KA

The Tiffin Alegro Red is full of storage and cabinetry, which is always a plus with kiddos in the discussion. It doesn’t feature two full baths, but the central bathroom at least has a second toilet for the smaller bladders that just can’t wait in line.
The full wall slide, opposite the queen bed slide, really opens the bedroom up into a massive space. This is the kind of size you want when watching TV, kicking back on the bed, and waiting for the laundry cycle to finish up in the bathroom. The Red 38KA is the lap of luxury, refinement, and pure size—perfect for large families.
3. Thor Challenger 37DS

Sure, you expect sleeping options in Class A RVs with bunk beds, but you don’t necessarily expect the sleeping capacity to rise as the motorhomes get smaller. The Thor Challenger 37DS is the smallest of our top three, yet it has the largest sleeping capacity.
This is a testament to Thor’s ability to maximize the usage of the interior space. There are the bunk beds, of course, then the king-inclined bed, the front, drop-down overhead bunk, and the pull-out sofa. Not bad for 39′. The dream dinette is enormous as well, making it picture-perfect for the morning breakfast ensemble.
4. Coachmen Mirada 35ES

You have to love Coachmen’s effort on the versatility front. The bunk room is the focus of their ingenuity, because it converts from a bunk bed to a wardrobe, to an office, all in a jiffy. If the kids are in school, it only takes a moment to flip up a section of the bunk and use the remaining section as an office desk for your remote work setup.
If you don’t need an office but need some extra space for clothes storage, the bunk room has your back on that as well. As for the rest of the Coachmen Mirada, there are a ton of storage options throughout, along with a washer and dryer, and stackable combo prep as well.
5. Forest River FR3 32DS

If you aren’t paying attention, you might not even see the power bunk located over the driver and passenger seats in the Forest River FR3. It comes right out of what looks like nothing more than mirrors and cabinetry, and that’s only one bunk. You can also convert the passenger side seat into an office space, which is good when you’re working remotely on or off the road.
The u-shape dinette is very large and accommodating for large families, and there are plenty of windows throughout, especially a large one on the camp side, across from the dinette. You only get one bathroom, but it’s sizeable, especially the shower. It’s also right across from the bunks, which also convert into a sofa with seatbelts.
6. Jayco Alante 29F

Many of the Class A RVs with bunk beds on this list are mid-size RVs, and the Jayco Alante 29F is no exception. Jayco takes the size constraints, however, and turns it into a surprisingly spacious and versatile environment. Neat little add-ons, such as pop-up outlets, stand out and make the necessities accessible without taking up space or being inconvenient.
The bathroom features a huge medicine cabinet, along with a sizeable shower and additional cabinetry. The bunks are very nice, with a 300-lb weight capacity for both, and relatively comfortable padding that will work just fine for the kiddos.
7. Winnebago Sunstar 31B

It’s always good to see an exterior kitchen on Class A motorhomes with bunk beds. It’s a luxury add-on that’s too often left by the wayside in these floorplans. And grilling out is a huge family activity, and it’s a big advantage to have your whole kitchen outside, at your disposal. The Winnebago Sunstar is perfect for outdoor entertaining.
It features a mini-fridge, several drawers, an upper, glass cabinet, a slide-out griddle, and a sink. Plus, the flip-up panel serves as its own awning. On the inside, there is a ton of space, with enough room to sleep up to ten people. The extra-long sofa breaks down into a bed when needed, with a queen bed in the back.
8. Fleetwood RV Bounder 36F

Last but not least on our Class A RVs with bunk beds list, is the Fleetwood RV Bounder 36F. There are a lot of neat features on the Fleetwood, including the bunks, of course. Power shades throughout the RV are a nice touch, along with the exterior power awning. There’s even a neat drawer in the cab that’s as large as most residential dresser drawers.
The TV and fireplace are across from the large sofa, which is always nice if you don’t like the neck-wrecker setups. The kitchen is huge, with plenty of counter space (always a big advantage when the kids are along for the ride. The Bounder 36F also features two full baths, a really nice advantage over comparable-size RVs.
Are Class A RVs With Bunk Beds Worth the Money?
When bunkhouse RVs first showed up in the RV market, it was a game-changer in the RV World. Children finally had a place in the RV where they could put their things down and say “This is mine.” They didn’t have to feel like they were guests in their own home on wheels. If they needed time to themselves, there was a place they could go, even if they shut the world off with curtains.
Bunk beds in Class A motorhomes do add a noticeable amount of weight. When you compare the Coachmen Encore 375RB to its other two floorplans, you’ll see that this bunkhouse motorhome has a tow rating of 5,000 pounds. The other two floorplans have an increased 8,000-pound tow rating. Ford’s V8 Triton and F-53 chassis are incredible together, but the 375RB has bunks and other features that make it heavier.
On the other hand, Class A motorhomes are the most expensive RVs on the market. Many of the floorplans don’t adapt to the various stages of life as well as a Class A RV with bunk beds. In many cases, we’ve seen enough stories where we could sew them together, creating a complete human lifecycle.
A young couple starts a growing family. Toddlers start on the convertible furniture and move into the secure bunks once they’re in grade school. By the time they’re in high school, those curtains become the “no parents allowed” door. When they go off to college or another higher education program, the bunk space turns into a closet or the fur baby’s space. Years later, the grandkids visit, and the bunks are used again.
The average lifespan of an RV is 20 years. If you keep your Class A RV with bunk beds in good shape and well-maintained, your kids may want to borrow it for their family RV vacations. Yes, it happens all the time. The best part about this is, that the RV is paid off.

Class A motorhomes are the most expensive of all the travel trailer categories. While you’re performing your Google search, “motorhome with bunk beds for sale,” get some firsthand experience by renting from a peer-to-peer rental company like Outdoorsy, RVshare, or RVezy.
Outdoorsy lets you rent RVs from real owners. You can try out the various motorhomes with bunk beds from all of the RV manufacturers. One weekend you could try out a mid-coach bunk bed floorplan from one brand. The next weekend you could try a rear bunk bed model from a different manufacturer (upon availability in your local area).
